The
meeting is a place for the girls to let their hair down (it’s WIMA
members only; any male partners left at home to house/dog/baby
sit!) and along with the good pub food served until about 9pm,
the next month’s WIMA activities can be planned, plans made for
group holidays, social get togethers, parties, meals out etc., – with
a good variety of friendly banter and lots of laughs thrown in, it
makes for an excellent evening.
Ride outs are usually on Sundays and it is usually planned to
have at least one ride out a month. The guys come along to all
their social events and runs – it wouldn’t be the same without
them. Just the monthly meeting is reserved for members and
prospective members.
trip to Brittany for those that can make it, turning out in force for
WIMA Day on 27th April, when it is planned to ride into Wales for
the day; discussing plans for riding together to the National Rally
in June – not to mention the monthly ride outs that are planned
on a regular basis.
Past group events have included a trip to the Isle of Man for a
week, participation in the Annual Chocolate Run trip to
Belgium and oh yes – a visit to the choccy factory – a run to
Iron Bridge to meet up with the WIMA Midlands group, several
runs to the Lake District, Lancashire, Yorkshire, Derbyshire
and Wales. Plus countless parties and meals out.
The group welcomes all prospective and existing members - it
doesn’t matter about the size of your bike – they’d love to see
you! Don’t even feel you’ve got to come to the meeting on your
bike – in the winter most of the group tend to come in their
cars!
The NW Group keep in touch via an email list which has been
running now for 7 years – with new members joining at
regular intervals. It has brought together many like minded
women who share the same enthusiasm for bikes and good
company….. the group is expanding all the time and really
sums up the WIMA message… ‘A WIMA member is just a friend
you haven’t yet met’. How true!
